NewFASANT - ISAR MODULE

ISAR (Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar) is an extremely efficient, accurate and fast computer tool for obtaining ISAR images of electrically large complex targets.

The targets can be formed by Perfect Electric Conductors (PEC), dielectric or magnetic materials or PEC covered by Radar Absorbing Materials (RAM). ISAR can also treats the interaction of terrestrial or maritime targets with their surrounding environment.

The targets are geometrically represented by a collection of flat facets or NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline Surfaces). The geometry can be generated by the most used Computer Aided Geometrical Design (CAGD) tools such as Autocad, Rhino, etc

ISAR works in any computer system or PC with Windows or LINUX. Highly parallelized versions for multiprocessors computers or clusters are available.

ISAR is very flexible and can be adapted to the needs of each user. Partial or total services assistance under client demand is also available.

The user interface of ISAR is very friendly and graphical and permits to show and build geometries easily, to set options, to see results and other different options.

The user can choice between two electromagnetic kernels for the computation of the ISAR images: MONURBS and POGCROS

MONURBS kernel is based in Moment Method extended with Multi Level Fast MultiPole Method. User can select the use of the Electric Field Integral Equation, the Magnetic Field Integral Equation and the Combined Field Integral Equation. It also incorporates the Characteristic Basis Functions (CBFs) and Domain Decomposition Method. The code has implemented a Parallelized Multilevel Fast Multipole Method using MPI.

POGCROS is based on Geometrical Optics (GO), Physical Optics (PO) and the Equivalent Currents Method (ECM). Fresnel´s reflection coefficients are included in the PO approach to take into account RAM and other materials. The following contributions to the RCS can be taken into account: reflection, diffraction, double reflection, diffraction-reflection, double-reflection-diffraction and triple and higher order reflections. A combination of the Angular Z-Buffer (AZB) and the Volumetric Space Partitioning (SVP) and the A* heuristic algorithms is applied for accelerating the ray-tracing. This combination permits compute very efficiently in terms of CPU-time and memory storage the RCS of electrically large and complex bodies modeled by a high number of flat and/or curve surfaces taking into account rays with multiple reflections is a computer tool for obtaining the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of electrically large objects modeled by patches considered as perfect conductors or/and coated with RAM material.
