4.4. Assign

When the "Assign" option on the "Materials" menu is selected, the following tab will open:

The user can specify several layers with materials on an object. The number of layers needs to be selected in the "Number of layers" option. Then, each layer can be updated separately by selecting the layer to edit in the "Selected Layer" dropdown menu. Layer 1 is always the most external layer and each subsequent layer is deeper into the surface.

For each layer, the user can select one of the following layer types, taking into account that the material defined by reflection coefficient is restricted to surfaces with one layer:

  • Perfect Conductor: The objects of this type are metallic or PEC (Perfect Electrical Conductor). This is the layer type assigned by default.
  • Perfect Absorbing Surface: The objects of this type are perfectly absorbing.
  • Material defined by geometry: The user can assign a material defined by geometry to this layer and assign a thickness to it.
  • Material defined by reflection coefficient: The user can assign a material defined by reflection coefficient. This layer type is incompatible with the rest of layer types.

When the user has configured all the layers, they need to select a geometry from the geometry panel and then click the "Assign" button to assign the layers to the surfaces of the selected object.

 

Note that if the user assigns a material which can be only analyzed applying PO and, in Solver menu, MoM method has been selected, the following window will appear:
