MONCROS 6.2.10

12.5.1. View RCS 3D

This option represents in a 3D View the RCS spatial measurements. The user can see the different measurements for multiple parametric steps and frequencies in a graph where each measurement point is associated to a color. A color legend shows the magnitudes. It is possible to represent a particular RCS Field, either Theta or Phi, or see the total RCS Field. The user can also save the diagram to a PNG image file.

The following options are available:

  • Step: in projects where multiple steps have been defined, it is possible to select a particular step.
  • Frequency: in projects where multiple frequencies have been selected as part of a frequency sweep, it is possible to select a particular frequency.
  • Component: which component for the RCS to inspect, either theta or phi.
  • Filtering: by default the scale will display the lowest value using blue color and the highest value using red. It is possible to enable this option to select a particular minimum and maximum value to use for the color scale.
  • Radius: use this slider to make the RCS representation bigger or smaller.

Adittionally, the following options are available at the bottom bar:

  • Options: hides and shows the options panel that appears on the left.
  • Show Grid: if this option is selected, a grid with every observation point will be overlayed to the rendered figure, making possible to precisely see which value has every observation point defined in the geometry.
  • Show geometry: use this option to make the geometry visible or not.
  • Show Axis: use this option to hide or show the axis.

It is also possible to export a graphical representation of the image. Press Save as... to save the image as a PNG file.

12.5.2. View Cuts

This option lets the user inspect the Near Field RCS values. Near Field RCS magnitudes can be compared against different components, steps, frequencies and cuts. When this menu is selected, a panel similar to the one in the following screenshot is shown:

RCS Cuts diagram

There are two kinds of plots analyzed by this result panel: Linear and Polar. By default a Linear plot appears. The plot shows the amplitude of the RCS measurements computed for each angle in a given phi or theta cut. Each series is associated to a given frequency, step, and phi or theta cut. It is also possible to inspect the polar plot by selecting the tab above.

For both plots, an initial cut is added to the plot, but the user can add more series to compare them. In order to show the plot for another cut-frequency-step combination, select the desired frequency and cut and press the “Add Series” button in the Step, Frequency and Cut section at the left control for this panel. The component, either Eθ, Eφ or Et, can also be selected.

It is also possible to change the appearance of a series, displaying points for each angle in the sweep, and changing the color for a series, by selecting it on the List of Series controller and pressing the Change colors button; or delete a series by selecting it on the list of series and pressing the “Remove Series” button. The user can also import new series to be plotted along with the already plotted ones or export them to a text file for later analyzing.

12.5.3. View Cuts By Frequency

This option lets the user analyze RCS values comparing the measurements for a particular component, step and observation point (either a phi observation in a theta cut or a theta observation in a phi cut), through the multiple frequencies that are part of the simulation when there is a frequency sweep configured. Note that to be able to analyze frequency sweeps, frequency sweep must have been enabled in Simulation settings prior to executing the simulation.

RCS Cuts by Frequency

This panel displays a plot with the results, and several options for adding and removing extra series from the plot.

When initially open, the panel will display a default series in the plot that will represent the measurements for a particular component, step, and observation point in a phi or theta cut, against every possible frequency that has been simulated. More series can be added, by selecting component, step and spherical coordinates in the control panel that appears leftside to the plot.

  • Component: the plane wave component to inspect. Select one of the possible values: Eθ, Eφ or Et.
  • Step: the parametric step to select. These should have been defined prior to the calculation when designing the simulation.
  • Theta / Phi: select one of the possible theta or phi observation points that were previously added to the project.

The selected series can be added to the plot by pressing the Add Series button. It is also possible to modify the look and delete series previously added to the chart. You can change the color of a particular series by selecting it in the list and pressing the Change Colors. To remove a series from the plot representation, press the Remove series button.

Series can be imported and exported. To save a series press the Export series button. Later it is possible to load previously exported series by pressing the Import Series button and locating the file where the results were saved in.

12.5.4. View Cuts By Step

This plot lets the user analyze the amplitude measurements in bistatic RCS projects when multiple parametric steps are available. The plot compares the amplitude measurements for a particular component, frequency and observation point, and how do these measurements vary through each step.

RCS Cuts by Step

This panel displays a plot with the results and a control panel where the user can add, modify and remove series that are then displayed in the chart. A default series will be added automatically to the plot, but the user can add new series by modifying the values in the control panel and pressing Add Series for adding the series to the panel. The following settings can be modified:

  • Component: the plane wave component to inspect. Select one of the possible values: Eθ, Eφ or Et.
  • Frequency: if a frequency sweep has been made, multiple frequencies may be available for selection.
  • Theta / Phi: the observation point, either for a phi cut or a theta cut, to analyze.

12.5.5. View Text File

This option lets the user inspect the results of the Near Field RCS values in a tabular like structure. Selecting this option will display a panel where the user should select a step and a frequency. To use this section, select a parametric step from the list, and select the frequency to get the results from and press OK to load the data. A table will be presented with the values for this frequency and step. To save the results press the Export button below the table.
